The challengePreviously, international sales teams were creating price quotes independently, often applying excessive discounts to secure deals. In some cases, these discounts eroded margins and even led to products being sold at a loss.
With teams spread across different regions and currencies, the business needed a centralised, secure quoting system that enforced pricing rules, ensured profitability, and provided visibility over discounts and approval levels — all while supporting multiple languages for global use.
Our solutionTriad designed and developed a bespoke web-based Quoting and Price Approval Platform, now known as the MTL Price Tool.
The platform allows local sales teams to log in, generate new quotes, and select product part numbers and quantities from a master pricing database. Pricing, currency, and discount thresholds are all managed centrally — giving users immediate visual feedback on whether a quote is within acceptable limits.
If a requested discount exceeds a pre-defined level, the quote is automatically escalated to a local Sales Manager for review. Managers can approve, reject, or further escalate the quote to headquarters for final authorisation, creating a clear and auditable approval chain.

Sales teams can now generate accurate, compliant quotes quickly — with automatic enforcement of discount limits and clear escalation processes for approvals. Managers and HQ gain full visibility of pricing trends, approval patterns, and quote volumes through a built-in reporting dashboard.
Initially launched in China, the system was quickly recognised as a success and has since been rolled out across the Far East, Middle East, and Europe — providing a unified, data-driven approach to quoting and price management.
